Undoubtedly one of the best-known and most widely used text processors, Microsoft Word has been revamped almost entirely in this 2007 version. The first thing that catches the eye of the user is the new interface. It is cool-looking, but beyond that first impression, users of earlier versions could get lost because almost all of the old menus are now gone. Instead, Word 2007 offers the Fluent user interface, aimed to streamline the work flow. This interface is intuitive and full of icons, so it is easy to learn and use. Nevertheless, it's almost sure that you'll have to go to the Help menu, at least during your first days of use, for finding out where are the "Save", Save as" and other features that were part of the menus of earlier versions. (Hint: many of them are under the Office button). Another disadvantage is that new documents created with Word 2007 aren't compatible with earlier versions, so if you want to share a document with somebody that doesn't have Word 2007, you must save it as a document compatible with Word 97-2003.
On the positive side, this new version of Word now incorporates many new Spanish words and synonims, making easier the checking and editing of texts.
In short, you must take into account both the advantages and disadvantages of this software before changing your old version.
This security update is to protect you from malicious codes in Office files.
